An ISO container is also called an intermodal container or shipping container. This container is used, for example, for the transport of goods. Intermodal means that the containers can be transported in different ways. These containers are usually used for storage, transportation of materials and transportation of products in a safe manner.
ISO is an abbreviation for International Organization for Standardization, or International Organization for Standardization. This standard has ensured that standardization has been introduced for shipping containers in, for example, dimensions and choice of materials.
An ISO container is designed and built in such a way that it has the same size worldwide. As a result, the shippers who transport or trade the shipping container do not have to use a different means of transport for each container. For example, a 20ft container has the same dimensions all over the world.
The ISO container is often used for international transport and this is usually done by container ship. The advantage of this is that the containers can be brought to their final destination relatively quickly and easily in this way. The ISO container is loaded onto a container ship and transported from one country to another at the same time as 20,000 other containers. Compared to a truck, this is of course a very efficient solution.
ISO containers are available in different sizes. Below you will find an overview of the most common sizes of ISO containers.
The purpose of the quality requirements is to ensure that ISO containers are safe to transport and can be handled safely. In addition, the ISO guarantees the prescribed materials, so that they are the same for all containers. It often happens that shipping containers with ISO standards are stacked up to nine high. For this reason, the containers must be strong enough to be lifted and to bear the weight. In addition, the containers can be exposed to temperature differences of 100 degrees. In different conditions, they must maintain the same quality. What containers all have to meet is described in the ISO standard ISO 830, ISO 668, ISO 6346, ISO 1161 and ISO 1496-1.
All containers in our range are ISO certified. So each container is an ISO container.
